Osaka international airport (Itami airport) ・Itami skypark(Osaka pref.)

Hey, guys!

Today, I am going to introduce the “Itami skypark”.

General thing about the Itami skypark is written below.

Quite long!

the Itami skypark has 1.2km scale along the Itami airport. (HUGE!)

Park for all-generation!

There are many playground equipments for kids. And the park will be illuminated at night, so that is attractive for couples either.

Planes landing and taking off closely!

This is the what the Itami skypark is most proud of. You can see plane’s landing and taking off many times during your stay. That’s exciting!

It’s not close like the spot where is by Senri river, but it’s still close. haha
(Please have a look to the article about “the Senri river” if you like.)

At this spot, you can take photograph of planes landing and taking off from the side.

1.The date that I visited

I went to this place on 14th January 2019 (holiday).
This spot is not a seasonal spot, so you can visit this place as you want.

But

when you visit this place in winter as I did, you should dress up warmly for sure. In this park, nothing protect you from the wind. So it will be freezing. The camera will also get cold, so be careful to get the battery charged and bring spare.

(maybe during the summer, nothing protect you form the burning sunlight either…)

Anyway, you would better have enough belongings for the long stay at this park.

2.How to access

By train

You need to take a bus from the station. There are three way to get to the Itami skypark. All ways take you about 20 minutes.

1. From Itami airport (Number of bus stop is 7)
Take bus No.25  which is bound for “To JR Itami station via Kamitsu・Hankyu Itami”
in Japanese → (神津・阪急伊丹経由JR伊丹行き)
You should get off the bus at “Itami skypark Kamisuko”
in Japanese → (伊丹スカイパーク上須古)

2. From JR Itami station (Number of bus stop is 6)

Take bus No.22/23 which is “Iwaya Loop line”
in Japanese → (岩屋循環)
You should get off the bus at “Itami skypark Kamisuko”
in Japanese → (伊丹スカイパーク上須古)

3. From Hankyu Itami station (Number of bus stop is 6)

Take bus No.25 which is bound for “To Osaka international airport via Kamitsu”

or Take bus No.22/23 which is “Iwaya Loop line”

By car

There are quite huge parking lot at this park. The cost is 100 JPY / 20 minutes. There are no maximum price. So the longer you stay, the more expensive fee you have to pay when you get out. So just be careful.

There are three parking lots below.

・parking lot north ⇦ recommend

・parking lot central ⇦ recommend

・parking lot south

The skypark is quite long as I have said, so you have to walk a lot if you made mistake to park. I recommend you to park at central or north because the planes take off from the north area. (But some planes take off from the central area and planes landing till central area)

3.Location hunting

The number in the drawing below is related to the number in “4. gallery”

In the drawing above has two plane ANA(All Nippon Airways) and JAL(Japan Air Line).
They are Japanese flag carriers.

Those planes are “taking off” from the point which planes are drawn at.

Here, “taking off” means the timing that the planes start to float in the air.

That difference of floating point is caused by the size of aircrafts. Planes of ANA is bigger than the one of JAL at this Osaka international airport.

If you want to shoot the plane parallel with the ground, you should go south a little bit. (When the planes start to taking off, the body will lean.)

In my case, I shoot the ANA as parallel with ground and JAL as leaning at point ②.

FYI, small planes and propeller craft landing and taking off from the Runway B.
When you shoot the planes on Runway A, you would need a focal length like 100mm.
On the other hand, when you shoot the one on Runway B, you would need minimum 300mm focal length.
